Welcome to the plinth a tatty, battered, stained and generally horrible looking piece of wood most people would have thrown out. But it lives on here at studio 11 and I have made use of it. At the time of these photos I was still in the process of making the skulls in preparation of a much larger piece, and looking back over the past few weeks I haven’t done much in the way of a physical piece. So I decided to take a few quick photographs of some skulls piled up in a way I was going to pile the skulls in the larger pieces. To get a feel of how to pile the skulls I tested out different ideas of layout, from piled in a messy a fashion to a regimented pattern. While both layouts are interesting I feel the messy orientation is a better route to go down on to make a more unusual and unexpected piece.
