Well what is there to say about myself, I’m a 3rd year university student who is studying BA Fine Art and critical and curatorial practices at Plymouth College of art and Design. And it is amazing, simple as that.
I typically work in a minimalistic style with my main projects, which have a distinctive geometric style which I love working with, I’ve been described as a ‘fragmentist’, I’m not even sure if it is a real word but I accept it as it makes sense. Basically it means I jump from one project to the next frequently continuously trying out new things, always improving my practice (or at least that’s the aim)
Where did my love of art come from? Not from my family for sure, I’m a black sheep of the family, never known any art-based people in my family. The closest I can get to that is my dad who doesn’t mind going to an exhibition with me every so often. So where did it come from I have no idea, I just seemed to enjoy it more than any other subject. It was a logical choice to select art when it came to GCSE’S and A levels and it was worth it.
It was around this time my interest in becoming a teacher came about, well sort of. You see I had intentions of becoming an architect, I love building design, but when it came to my A levels I couldn’t pick both art and math’s, so I went with art. It was my stronger subject anyway, so during my time on the course talking to my teachers I developed aspirations to become a teacher, which continued onto my foundation course.
So here I am now studying at university ready to take my teaching course and to enter the wide world prepared to work and teach a subject I love, oh and making my own art.
